Robert Sims
CEO/President
As CEO/President of Hoosier, Inc., Robert Sims has successfully led the companys expansion by tripling revenues in just ten years. Prior to taking the helm of the company in 1993, he served as vice president of operations, managing production and purchasing, and assisting in sales and marketing.
Robert is proud of Hoosier’s well-earned reputation and personal approach to quality service. "We learned that from Mom," he says. "She knew that a certain positive culture could make a business thrive. So, she started one of her own to prove it. She just put everything on the line and went for it."
Admitting that long hours comes with the territory of managing a company as active as Hoosier, Robert and his wife, Shannon, are dedicated parents of three children. They are currently residents of nearby Chino Hills. In what little spare time he manages to set aside for himself, Robert partakes in his favorite sport of ice hockey.
Jeffrey Jacobson
Vice President
Jeff has been diligently working at Hoosier since 1981. "Mom started me out driving the truck," he says with a warm laugh. That assignment didn’t last long, however. His aptitude for marketing and sales was quickly proven when Jeff managed to land the company’s first million-dollar order.
Nicknamed "Passion," Jeff’s energy and creativity have been driving forces behind Hoosier’s phenomenal success. "No one makes better precision parts than we do at Hoosier," he says. "I’m really proud of our record for quality, partly because it’s a reflection on how well Mom taught us. She was just the greatest teacher anybody could ever have."
When he isnt busy working on servicing the companys clients or promoting a new marketing initiative, he can be heard working on his favorite pastime, playing his guitar. Happily married and the father to two daughters, Jeff is currently a resident of nearby Temecula.
Shannon Sims
Vice President of Human Resources
"Just like Lana, the company founder, I started at Hoosier answering the telephones," Shannon recalls. "Although I’m now the vice president of human resources, and am the chief officer for recruitment and hiring, like everyone else at this company, I wear a lot of hats."
During her tenure at Hoosier, Shannon has mastered all phases of Hoosier’s complex business processes from ordering, purchasing, to sales and manufacturing. Even with her busy schedule managing the company’s vital human resources, she still takes the time to engage important relationships with buyers and company business accounts, while keeping a watchful eye over all corporate activities. "We care very much about the end product," she says, "but we also care about the people we do business with. I think that’s why so many of them return to us again and again."
Shannon is married to Robert Sims and is the proud mother of three. In 2004, she celebrates her twentieth year with the company.
Mitchell McCall
Vice President of Operations
Mitch is a 24-year veteran of Hoosier Plastics. "I always knew that I wanted to work in machining and manufacturing," he says, "even from the time I was a kid." His opportunity came in the form of a recruitment letter from Hoosier to local high schools when the company was searching for talented apprentices.
"I was one of the two shop students from my school chosen for an interview," he remembers. "Lucky for me, I got the job." Working to the position of vice president of operations, he currently oversees manufacturing, purchasing, planning, estimating, and quality control systems.
He attributes much of the company’s enduring success, and his own, to founder Lana Scott-Waley. "She had it all," he says. "Strong customer service orientation, exceptional business savvy, and the commitment to do whatever was necessary to get the job done to the client’s satisfaction. That’s still what we’re all about."
Mitch is a father of two.
